Portable Happiness

I gave my mother-in-law a little brag book for Christmas with pictures of her great grandchildren. I will admit that when it was finished I was tempted to keep it for myself.  I may make another one, because it was quick and simple.  It is made using badge holders from the office supply store and held together with binder rings.

I love this paper collection.  It is from Stampin' Up and is called "Attic Boutique."  I will make a full confession about my paper hoarding in a future post, but I am proud to say that I bought this paper only a few weeks ago and I was surprised at how painless it was to cut into it so quickly and use it in a project.

I embellished using a coordinating embellishment pack from Stampin' Up and finished up with lots of coordinating ribbon scraps tied to the binder rings.

Look at all of these cute faces!

Each wallet-sized photo is backed with a piece of paper and slid into a badge holder.  Each badge holder also has a tab stapled to it with the grandchild's name written on it.  It is the perfect size to be tucked into a purse.  This would also be a great project for Mother's Day.

Winner of the Tags

There were 5 comments. I used the random number generator on random.org and comment #5 is the winner.  I tried to figure out how to get an image of the result in here, but I am going to have to add that to my list of things to learn about blogging.  Anyway...hooray for Karen!!!  I have some fun new things to share with you in the upcoming days.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!!

Gettin' My Kraft On!

Hello everybody...welcome to my blog!  Today I am going to share the gift tags I made for my monthly card club.

Here they all are packaged in cellophane and ready to go.  I love kraft paper.  If I could only choose one color of paper it would have to be kraft.

When I started thinking about this project I knew I wanted to start with kraft tags and keep the theme simple.  I cut all of the tags using my Cricut machine.  This first tag has a Wilton doily folded in half and attached with glue dots.  It is finished with a sheer white ribbon.

This second tag  is sponged on the edges with Stampin' Up Whisper White craft ink.  It took forever for the ink to dry, and I finally had to heat set it.  There is a vintage button attached with a glue dot.  It is finished off with Stampin' Up hemp twine.

I think this next tag is my favorite.  I stamped the bird image from Inkadinkadoo with Versamark ink and embossed  with clear embossing powder.  You can see the shine in the second photo.  It is finished off with a Martha Stewart piped nylon ribbon that I have been hoarding.

This simple tag has a snowflake which I cut using my Cricut.  It is attached with a sparkly brad and finished off with Stampin' Up silver cord.  I didn't have any sparkly brads, so I held a silver brad with my tweezers, heated it with a heat gun, and dipped it in some sparkly embossing powder.  Voilá...sparkly brad!

This tag started out to be my least favorite, but after tweaking it I like it better.  I punched a scallop circle and backed it with some old Stampin' up paper with vintage crocheted doilies on it.  It looked very plain until  I added some Stampin' Up pearl accents and a velvet ribbon.  It also has gold ink on the edges. Now it is trés chic, don't you agree?

For this tag, I cut the word joy with my Cricut and used the negative image as a stencil and sponged with Versamark ink.  Then I stamped the snowflake stamp (a dollar bin find at Michaels years ago).  I embossed the whole tag with  sparkly embossing powder.  It is finished with a sheer white ribbon.

The final tag is stamped with this cute little snowman image from Hero Arts a few years back.  The to/from stamp is from an old Stampin' Up set.  I stamped the images with Whisper White craft ink and heat set once again.  The ribbon is from Stampin' Up and gives it some holiday cheer.

And look at this cute little birdie!  I opened the blinds in my office last week to see this woodpecker in my backyard.  He is a Red-Shafted Northern Flicker.  Isn't he sporting a classy color combo?

And now for the GIVEAWAY!  Leave a comment below by midnight PST on Christmas Eve and tell me which tag is your favorite.  On Christmas Day I will draw a random winner to receive a set of the tags featured in this post.  Good luck!
